DAY 1 Cusco - Wiñay Wayna
6:30am transfer from your hotel by private bus to KM 104 where we join our trail. Our first stop will be Wiñaywayna which means “always young”. Here we’ll explore it’s archaeological ruins, canals, and fountains.
Later, we’ll hike uphill for about 4 to 5 hours, this section of the trail has a wonderful view of the valley and also the wiñaywayna waterfall where we’ll camp. (B, L, D camping)
DAY 2 Wiñay Wayna - Machupicchu
After breakfast, we’ll continue our trail to Machu Picchu, going thru a mountainside and el bosque humedo de nubles (humid cloud forest) which is rich in giant ferns and wide leaf plant species. Next, we’ll arrive at Intipunku or the sun gate, where we’ll be able to view Machu Picchu from high above. Your tour guide will explain in detail everything about this amazing city in depth.
Once inside Machu Picchu, we’ll explore la plaza principal (main square), the round tower, the intiwatana, the royal room, the temple of the 3 windows, and the cemetery.
Later we’ll have lunch in a local restaurant in Aguas Calientes, the town below Machu Picchu.
In the afternoon we’ll return by train to Cusco and finally to your hotel.
This days dinner is not included in the tour so we recommend having dinner at a restaurant around the Cusco main square, or Plaza de armas in downtown Cusco.
