Destination: Choquequirao

Time: 4 days / 3 nights

Day 01: Cusco - Cachora - Chiquisca

Your tour guide and associates will pick you up from your hotel in the morning and then we will start the trip to Cachora going through the towns of Izuchaca and the archaeological complex of Tarawasi on our way. Next, we will continue to the CunyacBridge and thought the districts of Curawasi and Saywite, finally arriving in Cachora where we will prepare the pack animals and start our hiking trip. After a smooth upward slope we'll arrive at the Paso de Capulliyoc (2800 m.a.s.l) where we will have lunch and after 2 more hours of hiking we will arrive in the town of Chiquisca (1930 m.a.s.l) During this part of the trip we will have the chance to view amazing landscapes, warm weather, glaciers of the vilcabamaba range and the abyss of Apurimac.

Day 02: Chiquisca - Marampata - Choquequirao

Early in the morning after breakfast we will continue our trip to the Rosalinas beach (1550 m.a.s.l) we'll go up the slope on the hardest part of the trip toward Santa Rosa (2100 m.a.s.l ) for about 3 hours. Later, we will ascend to Marampata (2850 m.a.s.l) a smoother ascent with views of the first day's road below, also orchids and maybe the fauna of this area: deer, ant-eaters, birds and insects. Later, we will continue part of the trip to Chequequirao and stop to camp 1 hour away from the archaeological complex.

Day 03: Choquequirao - Chiquisca

Early in the morning after breakfast we will go to the archaeological complex of Choquequirao. About a 1 hour hike, we will have views of the sunrise and stay here for around 3 hours, your tour guide will explain more about this important Inka retreat.
Later, we will return to our camp and descend to Santa Rosa where we will have lunch and finally, we will descend to Rosalinas beach and then go to Chiquisqa town which is 2 hours from Rosalinas beach and where will camp.

Day 04: The beach - AguasCalientes - Cusco

After breakfast at the camp in Chiquisqa at 6AM we will start back on the same route to Cachora as the 1st day of our trip and it's smoother with a descent. After 2 hours we arrive at the Capulliyocpaso where we will spend 2 hours at Cachora, this part of the trip will be easier, and we will should arrive here around 12pm a great time to see the flora and the exotic fauna, amazing views of the snowcapped mountains, and the impressive canyon of Apurimac, considered the most spectacular in south america.
Optional: in the afternoon, we can go to the thermal baths of Qonoq where we can relax for 1 hour returning later to Cusco around 8PM.
Transfer to your hotel. End of our service.

Tour includes:

  • Pick you up from your hotel by private bus to the beginning of trail (Cachora)
  • Entrance ticket.
  • Bilingual tour guide English/Spanish during whole trail.
  • Meals: Breakfast(4), Lunches (4), dinners(3)
  • Gear for camping (tent, stove, canopy, chairs, tablets, sleeping pads)
  • First aid kit.
  • Oxygen tank
  • Cook
  • Drivers and mules (the drivers will be in charge of transporting camping gear)
  • Transportation to return Cachora - Cusco- hotel.

Tour does NOT include:

  • Breakfast at 1st day (usually hotels offers breakfast)
  • Dinner at last day of tour (we will arrive to Cusco around 8PM)
  • Visit to the thermal bath of Qonoc.

Optional:

  • Extra porter to carry personal gear (if you need to take more than 6.5 Kg, you can hire an extra porter to carry up to 18 Kg)
  • Sleeping bag (rent at the office)
  • An extra horse or mule to carry personal gear from 1st till 4th day.
  • Extra service and tips.

We recommend bringing:

  • Backpack.
  • Passport (original)
  • 1 change of clothes.
  • Hiking shoes.
  • Small towel.
  • Swimming suit ( in case you visit thermal bath)
  • Poncho.
  • Canteen.
  • Camera and batteries.
  • Bug repellent, sun block and hat.
  • Flash light
  • Toilet paper.
  • Bottled water and water purification tablets.
